Black Temple and The Sword – it’s all about feelings!

We hoped for an evening out of the extraordinary and what we got was magical!!

DSC00902Black Temple is delivering a tighter performance every time we see them. They are fun to watch and sound waves delivered demand ear plugs, but it would be a shame not to take the opportunity to get fist punched in our stomachs reminding us how very alive we are. Jonas humbly gave tribute to The Sword for having Black Temple as support, but at the same time an established world class band as The Sword should feel really good in having such an excellent support. One guy standing beside me firstly commented that this is good stuff and one song later screamed out loudly his happiness and appreciation towards the stage. Everyone present was not only warmed up for the Sword, but was also put in high and happy moods. A great show and a big congratulations to the album release ‘It All Ends’ (Razzia Notes/Century Media, 2015), which was brought back home by many of us. Black Temple also challenges us music consumers by releasing it firstly as vinyl. My old record player had to be adjusted a bit the next morning (what was it now 45 or 33 speed??), but now the feeling is there! Analysis of the album will follow.

The first encounter with The Sword was at Metaltown in Gothenburg in 2013. I must confess that I was uneducated and lacked knowledge in order to catch this band along with all other performances those days. Before this gig I had several really good moments with their albums Age of Winters (Kemado records Inc, 2006, debut album) and Apocryphon (Napalm Records, 2012). I was prepared and after the fantastic show of Black Temple the super syncronized pure metal stoner performance followed of the band from Austin, Texas. Every start, every pause, every note, every song were in complete sync like never heard. We were proud to be at KB this evening!

The Sword are: John D. Cronise (guitar, vocals), Kyle Shutt (guitar), Bryan Richie (bass guitar) and Santiago ‘Jimmie’ Vela III (drums).

We have been to KB, Malmö many times, but this evening the sound was better than ever, the performance better than ever and the feeling was greater than ever!! The Sword’s recently released new album High Country (Razor &Tie, 2015) will be purchased instantly and discussed here later.
